Parenting the Poorly Attached Child:

and Holding Your Child's Heart DVD:

Hello, my name is Jonathan Maletz.  I am a Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in treating children who suffer from Reactive Attachment Disorder. Because of the lack of local resources, families would drive long distances to my office to receive basic information or extended treatment in addressing this difficult need. So, in 2005, I published Parenting the Poorly Attached Child as a parent centered resource that would put this information in the hands of parents everywhere. I followed this in 2006 with a DVD that provides additional information along with lots of visual demonstrations.

Parenting the Poorly Attached Child is a quick to read, practical book that teaches parents how to kindle love in children (either adopted or biologic) who did not securely bond as infants.  With clear descriptions and examples, it presents concrete suggestions for how to help children with Reactive Attachment Disorder,  or other significant attachment struggles, to form loving relationships.

Holding Your Child's Heart is a wonderful DVD that lets you see the ideas from the book in action.  By combining an interview format with footage of actual children being parented with these useful techniques, this 60 minute video helps you to put Attachment Parenting into action!

...And for under $30 for both the book and DVD, you will get a tremendous amount of practical help for a fraction of the cost of a single counseling session!

"I was very excited when I read your book. It made sense in a real way, and offered real life suggestions that can be implemented..."

                 Sharon Davidow, PhD, Clinical Psychologist

"I am a Psychologist working in a hospital setting doing individual, group and family work.  I came across your book and DVD on the Internet, and within 24 hours of receiving it from you, have read and watched the information eagerly. I love the information I received and will apply it..."

            Steve R. Siegle, Psy.D.

"I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your book and DVD.  I have been studying Attachment Disorder and doing Christian Counseling for 20 years.   Yours is a great resource of information to be able to hand out to parents since they are able to easily understand it.  Just what I needed for them!"

                   Margie Overmiller, M.A.

Together, this book and DVD address practical issues such as:

        What causes attachment struggles

How to unlock your child's heart

Ways to turn chores into their job, not yours

How to build a 'bonding-rich' environment

What to do about stealing and lying

Money Back Guarantee:

I am confident that you will find significant help in these resources.  The ideas have grown out of years of counseling with families with attachment needs.  If you are not completely satisfied, I will refund 100% of your purchase price.

Book excerpt for March, 2010:

This book focuses on one critical question. How do you love a child who pushes away love? It is written for families who are raising children who do not respond well to traditional parenting.

Perhaps you are raising an adopted child, or a birth child whose first year of life was disrupted by frequent medical struggles and complications. Do they seem to thrive on conflict? Where other kids love to be surprised with special treats and outings, does your child avoid sharing close, tender moments?  Attachment is the key to understanding these children...

From the Preface, Parenting the Poorly Attached Child
