It is amazing to see just how much meaningful ground can be covered in a single day! My trainings focus on equipping parents for the challenging task of helping restore children who struggle with significant attachment needs. Here is what some professionals have to say about my workshops... Thank you so much for presenting your workshop for our parents and foster/adoptive parents. The entire group was very enthusiastic because they were feeling like help had finally arrived for their children and their households. One foster Mom said that for the first time she felt like there was a light at the end of her tunnel. All the parents attending the workshop came with such feelings of desperation but left with feelings of great hope. Thank you again and again for your work with RAD therapy and for the wonderful workshop. Jacki Barnett Outreach Coordinator, Independent Living Center of North Central Ohio Inc.
Jonathan presented good insight, new tools, blueprints and a delightfully fun approach that refreshed my spirit. Tom Day, M.A. Licensed Professional Counselor
Workshop Objectives: 1. To provide an introduction to the dynamics of infant attachment. Workshop participants will learn about the ingredients necessary for healthy attachment to occur as well as common causes of disrupted infant attachment. 2. To examine the underlying psychodynamic goals that drive poorly attached children with an emphasis on Eriksonian Basic Mistrust. Workshop participants will discover what drives poorly attached children, and will be presented with a parental plan that is designed to help foster Basic trust and enhance interpersonal attachment in children. 3. To teach practical tools and techniques that effectively circumvent a poorly attached child's defensiveness in order to create nurturing experiences which are necessary for healthy bonding to occur. Workshop participants will be able to view video demonstrations of selected parenting techniques being used with children.
These workshops are an effective and efficient way to impact many families at once. If you are part of an agency that serves families struggling with RAD (foster care, adoption, social services etc.), or if you are a parent who belongs to a support group for these families, I urge you to consider contacting me about scheduling a workshop for your community. One day really can make a huge difference for a child's life!
